Truck drivers tighten measures against migrants’ smuggling attempts
After the deaths of six illegal migrants in the past 14 days due to lack of oxygen in the trailers of trucks they sneaked in at the border province of Edirne, drivers and transportation companies have started to take measures to prevent the boarding of migrants.
Theologian attacked by reactionary group
Theologian Cemil Kılıç has been attacked by a radical Islamist group in front of his house in Istanbul's Gaziosmanpaşa district, while Kılıç stated that he had been threatened for a few months.
Announcing the attack on a social media post, Kılıç said that while walking past a mosque, a man came up to him and started to shout saying, "Allahu Akbar."

Trial in İstiklal attack to begin on May 9
The trial of 36 suspects of the terrorist attack on İstiklal Street last November, claiming the lives of six people will begin on May 9.
The indictment regarding the deadly attack was accepted by an Istanbul High Criminal Court, while the court decided to set the hearing on May 9, 10 and 11.

379 more Turkish nationals evacuated from Afghan capital
Some 357 people, including 16 infants, evacuated from Afghanistan's capital Kabul arrived in Istanbul on Aug. 22.

New anti-terror operation launched in southern Turkey
A new anti-terrorism operation has been initiated in the south of Turkey, the country's interior minister announced on Aug. 12.
At least 1,448 security personnel will be part of Operation Yıldırım-5 in the southern province of Hatay's Amanos Mountains, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said at an inauguration ceremony.
