Economic program works, risks declining, says VP Yılmaz

Türkiye's economic program is working, producing results, while risks are declining, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has said.

In an interview with private broadcaster CNN Türk, Yılmaz noted that the international rating companies upgraded the country's ratings, while Türkiye's credit default swaps (CDS) have been falling.

Training plane crash in Bursa kills two aboard

A training aircraft crashed into the apron of the northwestern city of Bursa's Yenişehir Airport on Sept. 23, killing both the pilot instructor and a trainee.

The crash occurred at around 8 a.m., claiming the lives of 61-year-old pilot instructor Ünal Aster and 43-year-old instructor candidate Emir Gülal Nalcı.

VP launches plan to combat gambling, digital addiction

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has announced the launch of an action plan to combat gambling and digital addiction in schools.

The initiative will address addiction to gambling, the internet, smartphones and video games, Yılmaz said during a meeting of a board convened under the Health Ministry on Sept. 10.

Tourism targets for 2024 remain unchanged, says VP Yılmaz

The government is keeping its targets for the number of visitors and tourism revenues unchanged for 2024, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has said.

"We still expect 60 million tourists to visit Türkiye this year, while aiming for $60 billion in tourism revenues," Yılmaz said in a speech in the province of Bilecik.

Authorities set to meet children to curb digital addiction

Authorities are intensifying efforts to combat digital addiction by meeting with children who spend extended periods playing video games.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to address various forms of addiction, Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş told daily Hürriyet on Aug. 31.
