Skopje Jazz Fests’ Director Says Survival is ‘Miracle’

Founded in 1982, the Skopje Jazz Festival is one of the biggest cultural events in North Macedonia.

With performing legends like Al Di Meola, Chick Corea, Ray Charles, Maria Joao, Herbie Hancock, Youssou N'Dour and Tito Puente, to name just a few, its significance far surpasses the confines of the small Balkan country.

Zorlu PSM launches new season program

Istanbul's Zorlu Performance Arts Center (PSM) launched its fourth season program at a press conference held on Sept. 6. 

Zorlu PSM General Director Murat Abbas said they would bring alternative names to Turkey for the first time in the new season. 

"We attach importance to jazz music this season, too. We will host Chick Corea, Michel Camilo and Tomatito," he added. 

'Don't worry, be happy' star Bobby McFerrin in Istanbul

Istanbul?s Cemal Re?it Rey (CRR) Concert Hall will host tonight legendary singer Bobby McFerrin, who is best known for his 1988 hit song ?Don?t Worry, Be Happy.?

American vocalist and conductor McFerrin is a 10-time Grammy Award winner, who is known for his unique vocal techniques, such as singing fluidly, but with quick and considerable jumps in pitch.

Istanbul Jazz Festival to host Turkish premiere

The 21st Istanbul Jazz Festival kicks off tomorrow. The event hosts the premiere of Turkish composer, author and musician Zülfü Livaneli’s new piece composed for the poems of Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Arts and Culture (İKSV), the 21st Istanbul Jazz Festival begins tomorrow.
