Hamas health ministry says Israeli fire kills 20 Gazans waiting for aid

Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry said early Friday that Israeli fire killed 20 people and wounded 155 waiting to receive desperately needed aid in the besieged territory.

Efforts mounted on Thursday to get more aid into the devastated Palestinian territory, where fighting still rages after mediators failed to reach a truce for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

FM briefs Cypriot counterpart on Erdogan visit

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis had a telephone conversation with his Cypriot counterpart Constantinos Kombos on Saturday to brief him on the results of the Greece-Turkey High Council of Cooperation that took place in Athens on Thursday.

The two foreign ministers also discussed agenda items to be discussed at the upcoming councils to be held in Brussels.

Humanitarian diplomacy and its risks

The actions undertaken by Cypriot diplomacy have intensified recently, while the need to create a humanitarian corridor to deal with the dramatic situation in the Gaza Strip is being seriously discussed. The planned sea corridor, in which Cyprus seeks a central role, was the main issue discussed by Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos on his recent trip to Amman, Jordan and Ramallah.

Greece to support Cyprus’ re-election bid for IMO Council

Greece will support Cyprus's candidacy for re-election to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the 2024-2025 term, diplomatic sources said on Saturday. 

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias informed Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos about this decision of the Greek government during their bilateral meeting in Nicosia on Friday.
