Croatian footballer named "world's best" by FIFA

The Croatia and Real Madrid footballer was last month declared Europe's best player, and also won the Golden Ball at the World Cup in Russia.

Modric beat Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus to the award - with the latter failing to show up at the event, the Best FIFA Football Awards, held in London on Monday.

Croatia's Modric Named World Footballer of the Year

Two months after the Croatian national football team became the runners-up at the World Cup in Russia, captain Luka Modric was given the men's player of the year award by FIFA at a ceremony in London on Monday.

He won this year's award ahead of Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo, his former Real Madrid teammate and twice winner of the 'best player' prize.

Fiat Workers Strike over Ronaldo Signing

Workers at a Fiat Chrysler plant in Italy are to strike after its main investor decided to pay €112m (£99.2m) to sign footballer Cristiano Ronaldo for Juventus.

Both the football club and the carmaker are controlled by the Agnelli family through their holding company.

For the USB union, the decision means Fiat is missing out on investment.

Mohamed Salah: Liverpool Forward Voted PFA Player of the Year 2017-18

BBC - Mohamed Salah has won the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award for 2017-18.

The Liverpool forward, 25, beat Kevin de Bruyne, Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, David Silva and David de Gea in the vote by his fellow players.

Manchester City's Sane won the young player prize, while Chelsea's Fran Kirby won the Women's Player of the Year award.

Liverpool to Face Roma in Champions League Semi-finals

Liverpool will take on Roma for a place in this year's Champions League final after the two sides were pitted against each other at the draw in Nyon.

The Reds came through an all-Premier League quarter-final against Manchester City, winning the first leg 3-0 at Anfield and the second 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
