President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, thanked Romania today in a Twitter message for the aid offered to the Republic of Moldova under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism for combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Romanian parliamentarians have called on Bucharest to withdraw the Romanian citizenship of the Moldovan Prime Minister, Ion Chicu, after he suggested that Romania was one of the most corrupt countries in Europe, and used harsh language about Romanian officials.

Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs Daniel Ionita on Sunday received a delegation of Republican and Democrat representatives of the U.S. Congress, headed by Senator James Inhofe, on which occasion the Romanian dignitary requested their support for the inclusion of Romania in the Visa Waiver programme.
