Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has criticized Saturday's arrest of Construction Minister Darko Horvat in a corruption probe as disproportionate, and has called on the State Attorney's Office, DORH, to explain the reason and timing.
Torched Effigy of Gay Couple Causes Outrage in Croatia
The Croatian President, government ministers, LGBT rights groups and the Ombudsperson on Monday all condemned the burning of an effigy of a kissing same-sex couple and their child at a Dalmatian carnival, calling it a hateful act. The image was torched at Sunday's traditional carnival in the small town of Imotski in the Dalmatian Hinterland.
Turkey, Croatia seek to boost trade volume to $5 bln
Turkey and Croatia aim to reach a trade volume of $5 billion, Turkey's trade minister said on Feb. 11.
"We are working on new areas to improve cooperation, and boost mutual investments and the trade volume," said Ruhsar Pekcan in Zagreb, Croatia's capital, for an economic roundtable meeting.
Croatia Appoints New Minister to Handle Agrokor Crisis
Croatia's parliament on Friday confirmed the appointments of a new Vice-Prime Minister and Economy Minister - who will be in charge of handling the Agrokor crisis.
Following the resignation of Martina Dalic on May 14, her former positions are assigned to Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolusic, as Deputy Prime Minister, and to Darko Horvat, as Economy Minister.
