Munich – President Borut Pahor took part in a panel debate on the Western Balkans at the Munich Security Conference on Sunday, arguing the EU enlargement process should be stepped up and offering the EU as the answer to all the issues troubling the region.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has exchanged views about the latest developments in Afghanistan with his colleagues from the United States, NATO and other countries.

Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia signed a memorandum in Kyiv on Monday that formalises their cooperation on a joint path towards membership of the European Union.

Moldovan Foreign Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said that by signing the document, the three countries with European aspirations are sending another strong signal that they will continue to implement reform and modernisation plans.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu will host in Bucharest the Romania - Poland - Turkey trilateral meeting on security, with his counterparts Zbigniew Rau and Mevlut Cavusoglu attending, the Foreign Ministry informs in a release on Wednesday.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu held a phone conversation with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian on Dec. 8 after a period of strained ties between two countries. They discussed regional issues and bilateral relations, the Turkish diplomatic sources said.

Azerbaijan, Georgia and Albania thanked Turkey on Feb. 1 after a Turkish military cargo plane traveled to China's coronavirus-hit city Wuhan to evacuate its own as well as those countries' nationals.

The foreign ministers of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia assessed progress made in trilateral cooperation and discussed recent regional and global developments in the Georgian capital Tbilisi on Dec. 23. 

"Bulgaria will continue to support Georgia on its way to the EU, we appreciate what you have achieved and you can count on our help in the future".

Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Melescanu and his counterparts from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed on Monday a declaration on Romania's commitment to a freight route linking the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.
