Serbian water polo team become European champions

The team, led by coach Dejan Savic, will be welcomed in Belgrade o Monday evening, togeter with young Serbian tennis player Olga Danilovic, who just won her first WTA title in Moscow.

Serbia's water polo squad late on Saturday beat Spain 12-10 after extra time in the final game, to defend the title and extend its domination on the continent for two more years.

Filipovic, Bogdanovic claim OCS best athlete awards

BELGRADE - The Olympic Committee of Serbia (OCS) on Thursday named male water polo player Filip Filipovic and female taekwondist Tijana Bogdanovic the best Serbian athletes for 2016.

With the national team, Filipovic won the European Championship, the World League and the long-awaited Olympic gold, as well as the Champions League with his club, Italy's Pro Recco.

Balestra stages spectacular Opera and Fashion show

BELGRADE - Famous Italian fashion designer Renato Balestra has staged a spectacular fashion show titled Opera and Fashion on the main stage of the National Theatre in Belgrade.

Late Friday, the Belgrade audience had an opportunity to see ten collections of a total of 180 models that offer a retrospective of the entire career of the 90-year-old Balestra, the Politika daily reported.

Serbian Ballet Falls Victim to Battle Over Cash

Serbia's National Theatre has cancelled two ballets shows, blaming the Culture Ministry for not providing the cash needed to maintain the programme.

The two shows, The Portrait of Dorian Grey and Giselle, scheduled for April 6 and 7, were scrapped because the ministry was reportedly late in signing the annual funding contract with the theatre.

BELGRADE - The ballet The Picture of Dorian Gray, inspired by the 1891 Oscar Wilde novel of the same title, will premiere at the National Theatre in Belgrade on March 30.

Through the story about Dorian Gray, the famous Irish writer criticises the hypocrisy and immorality of his immediate environment, and choreographer Vladimir Logunov says that the story is very current even today.

Serbia beat Germany to secure World League finals berth

KRAGUJEVAC- Serbia beat Germany 14-8 (3-3, 4-2, 3-1, 4-2) in Kragujevac late Tuesday to secure a berth at the Water Polo World League final tournament.

Head coach Dejan Savic's men are sitting comfortably on top of Group B after winning all of their matches by beating Spain in Nis (9-1) and Madrid (15-9), Germany in Hamburg (19-10) and Russia in Astrakhan (17-8).
