BIRN on Wednesday launched the '44 Months under Siege' project, which features video interviews with 44 people who lived through the 1992-95 siege of Sarajevo, speaking about the dangers and deprivations of living under the longest military blockade of a capital city in recent times.

The new memorial room, entitled 'The Lives Behind the Fields of Death', opened on Tuesday at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre, with the intention of highlighting survivors' stories and combatting genocide denial.

BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Srebrenica Memorial Centre presented the video project 'The Lives Behind the Fields of Death' on Wednesday at a conference in Srebrenica that highlighted the role of oral history in combatting genocide denial and revisionism.

New photographs from the sites of detention camps and locations of mass killings during the Bosnian war form part of a photo essay published by BIRN on Monday, a day before the final verdict in Ratko Mladic's trial at the UN court in The Hague.

BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina was given the European Press Prize Special Award for 2020 on Thursday for its groundbreaking work in covering transitional justice topics.

The question is what will happen next.

All eyes now turn to the notoriously inefficient public prosecutor's office, headed by Gordana Tadic, although concerns with Bosnia's prosecutors and courts long predate her tenure.

The 25th anniversary of the shelling of the Kapija area of Tuzla by the Bosnian Serb Army was marked on Monday with the laying of flowers at the cemetery where most of the 71 mainly young people killed in May 1995 are buried, which was due to be followed by the symbolic sounding of an air-raid siren in the evening.
