ND leader slams government over Rouvikonas' latest ministry stunt

Main opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis lambasted the government on Monday over the new attack by anarchist group Rouvikonas at the Citizen Protection Ministry earlier in the day, saying this is considered normal by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

About 20 Rouvikonas members attempted to enter the ministry building but were prevented by the guards at the main entrance.

Anarchist group tries to barge into ministry in support of N17 hitman

Twenty members of anarchist group Rouvikonas attempted to barge into the Citizens Protection Ministry on Monday morning but were prevented by the ministry's guards.

Police said in a press release the suspects were stopped at the outer perimeter of the building, on Kanellopoulou avenue, detained and transferred at the Attica Security Directorate. 

N17 hitman demands furloughs

Dimitris Koufodinas, the jailed former hitman of the now defunct November 17 urban terrorist group, who Tuesday entered the sixth day of a hunger strike to demand regular furloughs, refused to repent for his acts in comments published in a left-leaning newspaper.

"In any case the granting of furloughs does not require an expression of repentance," he said.

Rouvikonas members burst into trade secretariat in pro-Koufodinas protest

Suspected members of the anarchist group Rouvikonas on Monday burst into the offices of the General Secretariat for Trade in Kaningos Square in central Athens.

According to Skai television, the anarchists were calling for the release of convicted November 17 hitman Dimitris Koufodinas who started a hunger strike last Wednesday.

Convicted terrorist in Greece returns to jail after furlough

Dimitris Koufodinas, a convicted terrorist and member of Greece's most notorious terrorist group, 17 November, has returned to prison after a 48-hour furlough, his second overall.

Koufodinas, 60, arrived at Athens's Korydallos prison about 30 minutes before the 48 hours expired, accompanied by his wife and son. He greeted the waiting media but made no statement.

November 17 hitman Dimitris Koufodinas, who is serving 11 life sentences for his role in the extreme-left terrorist group, began a two-day furlough from prison on Friday, his second in three months.

He was greeted outside Athens's maximum-security Korydallos Prison on Friday morning by his partner, his son and a group of applauding supporters and friends.
