The US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt commented on a jailed terrorist on Thursday who has made headlines in the past few weeks due to a hunger strike he started to protest the rejection of what would have been his seventh furlough.

A group of unknown individuals smashed the windows of a New Democracy offices in the southern Athenian suburb of Ano Glyfada on Wednesday night, amid a spate of attacks by anarchists against policemen and other targets.

Self-styled anarchists clashed with police guarding an event in Athens where former conservative prime minister Antonis Samaras and other New Democracy lawmakers were in attendance.

Members of the Rouvikonas (Greek for Rubicon) anti-establishment group on Wednesday morning splashed paint at the wall outside the residence of US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt in Athens.
The members of the group drove up to the residence on motorcycles and fled immediately after the stunt.
Police say they have detained eight suspects over the incident.
