Eurovision makes COVID-lite return in the Netherlands

The kitschy glamour of Eurovision is back, with the Dutch hosting a scaled-down, coronavirus-safe version this week after the song contest was canceled last year.

Around 3,500 COVID-tested fans will be allowed to attend the May 22 final in Rotterdam as the return of the pageant injects some glitz into Europe's cautious reopening.

"Tears Getting Sober" is the song to be performed by Bulgarian contestant VICTORIA at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam.

The song was presented on March 7 during a live broadcast on Bulgarian National Television's morning show "The Day Begins with Georgi Lyubenov", BNT reported.

Eurovision song organizers expect event as planned for now  

Organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest said they were focused for now on holding the event planned for Rotterdam in May while weighing possible disruptions from the coronavirus crisis.

Dutch public broadcaster NPO said it was in consultations with the European Broadcasting Union, the co-producer of the hugely popular televised event, to review how the virus may impact the contest.
