Suspected fraudster wanted in Switzerland arrested at Athens Airport
A 44-year-old man wanted in Switzerland for online fraud was arrested at the Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" on a European arrest warrant on Tuesday night, police said Thursday.
Swiss authorities believe the accused is a member of a criminal network that engaged in online investment fraud against citizens primarily within the European Union.
Suspect arrested for helping individuals leave Greece with stolen documents
A 57-year-old Spanish national was arrested at Athens International Airport earlier this week on suspicion of assisting four Cuban nationals depart from Greece using stolen travel documents.

Odysseus Elytis was one of the most important Greeks. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1979. He was one of the select members of the so-called "generation of the nineteen thirties" in the field of artistic creation.
Coronavirus cases rise to 1,613 with deaths up to 59
Greek Health Ministry spokesman Sotiris Tsiodras on Friday announced 99 new coronavirus cases, raising the total in the country to 1,613.
He added that the death toll has risen to 59 with six more people in hospital passing away. The average age of the dead is 71 years, he said.

Anglo-Hellenism was a Liberal construct, with its roots in the 19th century, but it became recognizable as such only after the Balkan Wars. Many British Liberals were impressed by Greek Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos at the London Conference in 1912-1913, and showed a strong desire to keep his government aligned with his British counterpart H.H. Asquith's Liberal government.
