Ministry recycles 66,000 tons of paper from old textbooks in 5 years

Within the scope of the "Zero Waste Project," the Education Ministry has announced that 66,416 tons of paper has been recycled and 167.7 million Turkish Liras ($5.25 million) in revenue generated to contribute to the national economy by recycling free textbooks which have been distributed every year.

UN event marks Int’l Day of Zero Waste 

The United Nations has hosted an event to mark the second International Day of Zero Waste, highlighting a project initiated in Türkiye aimed at reducing waste burden, with Turkish first lady Emine Erdoğan calling for tangible steps towards sustainability.

March 30 was declared as International Day of Zero Waste by a United Nations General Assembly resolution in 2022.

Thousands of people gather to celebrate Nevruz

Thousands of people have marked Nevruz, a traditional festival that celebrates the arrival of spring, with colorful rituals across Türkiye, especially in the southeastern and eastern parts of the country.

Nevruz is marked as part of Kurdish, Iranian and Eurasia traditions in the second half of March as the first day of spring with colorful celebrations.

105 tons of paper recycled through Zero Waste Project in parliament

Within the scope of the Zero Waste Project aiming at reducing Türkiye's waste burden, 105 tons of paper and cardboard were recycled in the parliament in 2023, officals have informed. 

The project, which is carried out under the auspices of first lady Emine Erdoğan has been meticulously implemented by the parliament since 2018.
