French leader Emmanuel Macron has faced growing pressure to find a way out of the deepest crisis of his presidency after protests over taxes sparked Paris's worst rioting in decades.

An address to the French National Assembly on Tuesday by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker was canceled to "give priority" to a hearing on the "Yellow Jacket" protests that have swept across France in recent weeks, writes Politico. 

France will consider imposing a state of emergency to prevent a recurrence of some of the worst civil unrest in more than a decade, a government spokesman said on Sunday, as peaceful protestors were urged to come to the negotiating table, writes the Guardian.
