Beşiktaş achieved an epic 4-3 win over Trabzonspor late on April 8, throwing down a gauntlet to its two closest followers, which will clash with each other on April 10. 

The cards in the Turkish Super League could be reshuffled in the crucial upcoming 28th week of games, with leader Beşiktaş visiting Trabzonspor, the best-performing in the second half of the season, and second-placed Başakşehir taking on third-placed Galatasaray.

Defending champion Beşiktaş took another step to retaining its Turkish Super League title, moving five points clear at the top of the league with an April 2 win over Ankara's Gençlerbirliği at home.

The visiting side from Ankara started the game by pressing Beşiktaş's defenders and midfielders high up the pitch.

Beşiktaş was held to a goalless draw at Antalyaspor on March 19 in a Spor Toto Super League game, on a weekend when its closest rival in the title race also failed to win.

Beşiktaş will take on Lyon of France in the Europa League quarterfinals after knocking out Greek team Olympiacos on March 16.

The draw on March 17 pitted the defending Turkish league champion against the French league runner-up, with the first leg scheduled to be played on April 13 in Lyon. 

Beşiktaş coach Şenol Güneş remains cautious ahead of the Europa League second leg of round of 16 tie with Olympiacos, despite a promising draw in the first game in Greece. 

"Of course we will start the game in a solid manner, not taking many risks," Doğan News Agency quoted Güneş as telling his squad ahead of the March 16 game. 

Turkey's Beşiktaş, which holds the advantage in its bid to qualify for the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals, will take on an improving Kayserispor on March 12 in a bid to maintain the point difference with its closest chaser.

Beşiktaş, Turkey's sole remaining representative in European competitions, will visit Aegean neighbor Olympiacos in the first leg of a Europa League round of 16 matchup on March 9. 

Beşiktaş beat Çaykur Rizespor, the relegation-threatened Black Sea side 1-0 in a tight game in Istanbul, defending its cushion with the remaining contenders on March 4. 

Spor Toto Turkish Super League defending champion Beşiktaş defeated archrival Galatasaray 1-0 in a tight derby game late on Feb. 27 to give it a giant step toward a second consecutive championship.
