Senator welcomes US administration’s decision on Turkish sanctions

US Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) said he was "glad" of the administration's decision to use sanctions against Turkey, in response to Ankara's purchase of the S-400 Russian-made missile defense system.

The Senator has repeatedly pressed the Administration to put these sanctions into place.

Turkey-wide weekend curfew comes into effect

A Turkey-wide weekend curfew became effective on Dec. 4 as part of measures to stem a new coronavirus wave.

The weekend-long curfew in the country began on Friday at 9 p.m. and will end on Monday at 5 a.m.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday announced new restrictions, including a curfew on weeknights and a full weekend curfew.
