In a study on active fault lines in the northwestern province of Bursa, a previously unknown fault line was discovered, which could cause a 7.3-magnitude earthquake.

The strengthening works are ongoing uninterruptedly in Türkiye's prominent Hatay Archaeology Museum, which sustained damage during the deadly earthquakes that jolted the country's southeast in early February last year.

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake rattled the eastern province of Malatya one day after another moderate-scale tremor, the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) has announced.

The earthquake occurred at 12:34 p.m. on Dec. 28, with its epicenter situated in the Yeşilyurt district, reaching a depth of 17 kilometers, AFAD said in a written statement.

Approximately 150 artifacts, weighing tons, are also preserved in their own places in the museum with a method of on-site preservation.

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake has rattled the southern province of Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the deadly Feb. 6 earthquakes, the tremor was also felt and caused panic in the neighboring provinces that have already experienced severe destruction last month.

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake rattled the southern province of Bolu, while the tremor was also felt in Istanbul, the capital Ankara and the neighboring province of Düzce, the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) has announced.

The quake occurred at 1:55 p.m. in the province of Bolu, and its depth was determined as 8.18 kilometers, AFAD said in a statement.

The Sarıoğlan district of the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri was hit by a magnitude 4.9 earthquake early on Jan. 19.

"The earthquake occurred at a depth of 23.7 kilometers at 02.28 a.m.," the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announced.
