A priest at a Greek Orthodox church in Nea Kios in the northern Peloponnese conducts the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper late on Wednesday night. The service was broadcast live online as it was conducted without a congregation, following the closure of all places of worship by the government on March 20 as part of efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Designer Yannis Tseklenis dies, leaving legacy of bold prints

Pioneering Greek fashion designer Yannis Tseklenis died on Wednesday at the age of 82, the Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation, to which he donated his work, announced on Thursday. Tseklenis, who is credited with putting Greek fashion on the map in the 1970s with his bold prints and comfortable silhouettes, started out in the mid-1960s as a fabric designer.

Pink skies before new cold snap brings snow and rain

The sun sets off Nafplio in the northeastern Peloponnese on Friday. Eastern parts of mainland Greece, including Attica, and the northern Peloponnese are expected to bear the brunt of a fresh cold snap that is expected to sweep into Greece later on Saturday and to peak on Sunday night, brining heavy snow, showers and icy temperatures.
