Turkish, German, British and French leaders discussed the Syria crisis and migrant issue as well as joint action against coronavirus in a videoconference, the Turkish presidency said on March 17.

Turkey will hold an emergency meeting to be chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on March 18 to coordinate the fight against the novel coronavirus, Turkey's presidential communications director has said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin exchanged a phone call on February 28 and agreed to meet in-person very soon and to discuss new measures to de-escalate tension in the Idlib province of Syria as the Syrian regime killed 33 Turkish troops in an attack.

Turkey, trying to honor the Sochi agreement with Russia on Idlib, Syria, urges all sides to the conflict to keep their word and work toward stability, said Turkish communications director on Feb. 22 on Twitter.

Turkey's Communications Director Fahrettin Altun on Feb. 11 said that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took the helm in the fight against FETÖ from day one and gave the orders of operations which eliminated its members in state institutions.

Five Turkish soldiers were killed and five others were injured in a Syrian regime artillery attack in Idlib province of Syria, as the Turkish army retaliated against the regime forces, Turkey's Defense Ministry said on Feb. 10.

Senior Turkish officials on Feb. 8 condemned the remarks by Mustafa Akıncı, the leader of Turkish Cyprus in a British daily.         

The condemnations came after Akıncı talked to The Guardian about the long-standing reunification efforts in Cyprus island.         

Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency said on Jan. 15 that Egyptian security forces raided their Cairo office and took four journalists into custody, including a Turkish national, to an unknown destination.

Some circles are seeking to use the Armenian allegations over the events of 1915 to create divisions within the Turkish community, the country's communications director said Jan. 14.

Fahrettin Altun's remarks came after a meeting of the High Advisory Board under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the capital Ankara.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Jan. 3 chaired a meeting to discuss recent developments in the region.

Following the Istanbul meeting, held in the Dolmabahçe Palace, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun said the meeting discussed recent developments in Iraq, Libya and Syria, as well as the recent U.S.-Iran row.
