Health minister tests positive for COVID-19

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19, in a latest social media post.

Koca said he tested positive for coronavirus five days ago and affirmed that he will continue to work on the recent regulation on health workers' rights via online meetings.

"Soon, I will be among my friends," the minister said.

Minister expects significant decline in infection cases within weeks

A significant decline in the number of COVID-19 infections in the next two or three weeks is expected, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has expressed.

"The number of daily infections has decreased to some 10,000," Koca said while talking to journalists on Aug. 23.

According to the minister, the hospitalization numbers are also on the decline.

Minister visits country’s largest hospital for inspections before launch

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has paid a visit to Etlik City Hospital, a health center in the capital Ankara which will be the country's largest hospital based on field size, to conduct inspections before it is opened to service officially.

"We visited the hospital to inspect the latest preparations before the opening," Fahrettin Koca tweeted on Aug. 18.

Gov’t announces new regulation on health workers’ rights

The new regulation which will improve the rights and additional payments of health workers was published in the Official Gazette on Aug. 12.

Making a statement after the publication of the regulation, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said in his post on social media that additional payments will be made on the 15th of each month to health workers.
