Alliance-building is in full swing among Türkiye's political parties as the local elections scheduled for next March inch closer, with key players intensifying talks and negotiations to solidify cooperation efforts.

The final results of the parliamentary elections held on May 14 will be announced on May 30 at the latest, according to Supreme Election Council (YSK) head Ahmet Yener.

"The appeal files that have reached the [Supreme Election] council will be discussed today, and depending on their fate, the parliamentary results will be known today or tomorrow," YSK head Ahmet Yener said on May 29.

Preparations for the 28th term of the Turkish assembly are in full swing, with the parliamentary swearing-in ceremony expected to take place on June 1, pending the final official results of the May 14 election.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that the government will hand over the first batch of new homes to earthquake victims by October or November, underlining that their priority will be the reconstruction of the quake-hit provinces if they win the presidential elections on May 28.

''We hope and expect that Türkiye will overcome this grave disaster and continue to march towards its goals,'' President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on March 31.

According to a temporary list published in the Official Gazette by the Supreme Election Board (YSK), the people of Türkiye will elect its new president out of four contenders, including President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the opposition candidate, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Voters have been applying to the relevant district election boards since March 22 to sign in favor of presidential candidates that need at least 100,000 signatures to run at the May 14 polls. The signature process will continue until March 27.
