Haftar leaves Moscow without signing ceasefire agreement, conflicts commenced

After it was announced that Haftar had left Moscow without signing an agreement on a ceasefire in Libya between forces loyal to Haftar and an official government backed by the United Nations, the NATO bombing of Libya began, said Sergey Lavrov, Russia's Foreign Minister.

Meeting for Libya peace starts in Moscow

Moscow is hosting a series of negotiations on Jan. 12 to find a solution to the Libya crisis.

The top diplomats and defense chiefs of Russia and Turkey gathered in the Russian capital to assist the talks between Fayez al-Sarraj, the head of Libya's U.N.-recognized government in Tripoli, and Khalifa Haftar, eastern Libya-based military commander.

Turkish FM in Algeria for talks

Turkey's top diplomat arrived in Algiers on Jan. 6 for official talks on bilateral relations with Algerian authorities.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu was welcomed by his Algerian counterpart Sabri Boukadoum and Turkish Ambassador Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.

He is to meet Algerian authorities to discuss bilateral ties and recent regional and international developments.

Turkish gov’t to submit parliamentary motion to send troops to Libya early January

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Dec. 26 announced that the government will submit a parliamentary motion to send troops to Libya in early January, when parliament re-opens.

"We will go to places we have been invited to. Since there is an invitation [from Libya] we will accept it", Erdoğan said.
