One die after avalanches, landslides hit country’s northeast
One man has lost his life after he got caught up in an avalanche in the northeastern province of Artvin, as experts issued heavy snow and avalanche warnings for the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia regions.
Istanbul Airport named ‘World’s Best Airport’
Istanbul Airport has received five honors in the 2023 Global Traveler Tested Reader's Survey Awards by Global Traveler, including "World's Best Airport" and "Europe's Best Airport," the airport's operator İGA Istanbul has announced.

US returns $8 mln of stolen treasures to Türkiye
United States authorities have returned $8 million of stolen antiquities, some of which were plundered as far back as the 1960s to Türkiye, a prosecutor said on Dec. 5.
Among the 41 pieces returned were two Heads of the Roman emperor Caracalla and the Bust of a Lady which were trafficked from Bubon, a Roman-era site in southwest Türkiye which was extensively looted in the 1960s.

Necropolis area becomes a museum
The East Garage Necropolis Area, which was once a public market in the southern province of Antalya and where archaeological excavations started after the discovery of rock tombs, has been transferred to the Culture and Tourism Ministry.
With the project, which had a cost of approximately 292 million Turkish liras, the necropolis area has been opened as a museum.

White goods sales up 27 pct in April: Association
White goods sales in Türkiye have increased by 27 percent in April from a year ago but the industry's exports fell in the month.
Some 854,000 units were sold on the local market last month, according to the data from the White Goods Manufacturers' Association of Türkiye (TÜRKBESD).

Cultural mobilization starts for Hatay
Preparations are underway as Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry is preparing to establish a coordination center, where historical heritage preservation activities will be carried out. The ministry asked universities to send any information, document, research, thesis, picture, etc. about the quake-hit city of Hatay in an attempt to reconstruct the life and cultural texture there again.
