Erdoğan vows to prevent further coup threats

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said Türkiye will prevent any future coup attempts similar to the one orchestrated by the FETÖ in 2016.

"July 15 [coup attempt] is the latest example of how much damage an impostor disguised as a teacher can do to our country. We cannot allow such a tragedy to happen again," Erdoğan said, referring to FETÖ's U.S.-based leader, Fetullah Gülen.

Nearly 550 FETÖ suspects detained across country: Minister

A total of 543 people with ties to FETÖ have been detained in operations in 59 provinces across the country, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has announced.

In the investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspects were found to be providing financial assistance to FETÖ/PDY members and their families.

Nine FETÖ suspects nabbed in ops

 

Some nine people with ties to FETÖ, the group behind the 2016 defeated coup in Türkiye, have been nabbed in simultaneous operations in the country's four provinces.

Prosecutors in Istanbul issued warrants for the detention of some 11 suspects, accusing them of infiltrating the army.

Hablemitoğlu assassination suspect brought to Turkey

Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has brought Nuri Gökhan Bozkır, who is a suspect in the assassination of academic Necip Hablemitoğlu, to Turkey from Ukraine.

The MİT on Jan. 27 handed the suspect to the police for questioning in Ankara.

Ankara University's Hablemitoğlu, known for his research and books on FETÖ, was killed in 2002 in front of his house.
