Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler continued his official visit to Malaysia on Tuesday by meeting with Malaysian Defense Minister Dato Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Ankara appears relentless in its efforts to gain international support for its hardline stance on the Cyprus issue, which boils down to the requirement for prior recognition of the pseudo-state in the Turkish-occupied north of the island before any UN procedure for talks can begin.

Türkiye is nearing an agreement to purchase Eurofighter jets, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler said on Aug. 14, expressing optimism about the negotiations.

"I think we are nearing the end," Güler told private broadcaster HaberTürk during a televised interview.

Defense Minister Yaşar Güler said Wednesday that Türkiye can produce almost everything it needs at its defense industry facilities.

"This is a great advantage for our country and the Turkish Armed Forces," Güler told the Habertürk news channel.

Türkiye and Iraq will hold a new round of high-level security meetings to discuss mutual efforts to eliminate the presence of PKK terrorists from the latter's territories.

The fourth meeting of the high-level security mechanism will take place in Ankara on Aug. 15 and will be co-chaired by the two countries' foreign ministers Hakan Fidan and Fuad Hussein.

Türkiye and Syria may engage in ministerial-level discussions as part of ongoing efforts to normalize relations, according to Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler.

The potential meeting is contingent on the creation of suitable conditions, daily Hürriyet quoted Güler as saying.

Türkiye and Japan share a unique bond and should step up their collaboration for a more peaceful and livable world, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler said on Friday, marking the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

 Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler on Friday met with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov in capital Ankara.

Güler welcomed Umerov with a military ceremony, according to a statement by the Turkish National Defense Ministry.

After the ceremony, Güler and Umerov held a meeting at the ministry building.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is set to visit Türkiye on Aug. 2 to meet with his Turkish counterpart, Yaşar Güler, defense sources have confirmed.

The specifics of the discussions have not been disclosed.

This visit follows a recent meeting between Güler and Ukrainian Naval Forces Commander Oleksii Neizhpapa in Ankara on July 31.
