British Prime Minister Theresa May has fired her Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson over the leaking of a key decision related to the Chinese telecoms company Huawei from a National Security Council meeting.

Romania's Defence Minister Mihai Fifor on Monday welcomed UK ambassador to Romania Andrew Noble to discuss Romanian-UK defence co-operation, according to a press statement released by the Defence Ministry (MApN).

Fifor and Noble emphasised NATO relations as well as current European affairs at their meeting at the MApN headquarters.

Russia's ambassador to Bosnia, Petar Ivanov, and Milorad Dodik, the Bosnian Serb President, have criticised the UK for "meddling" in the October general election campaign" after Britain's Defence Secretary, Gavin Williamson, recently announced that the UK will send 40 extra military personnel to counter any "malign external influence" and to ensure "free and fair" general elections in Bosnia.

Britain's defence secretary Gavin Williamson announced on Friday the deployment of additional troops to Bosnia and Herzegovina ahead of parliamentary and presidential elections in October.

The Times of London reported that 40 specialist military personnel were being sent to counter Russian influence, a growing cause of concern to NATO.

Their goal is reportedly "to prevent Russian interference in the elections."

In its report, the Times noted that these elections are scheduled for October in BiH.

According to the London daily, British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson, who spoke at a meeting of NATO ministers of defense, confirmed that the soldiers will be deployed in BiH.

The excellent defence co-operation between the UK and Romania, with emphasis on the British military contribution to Romania, were discussed on Friday at a meeting of Romania's Defence Minister Mihai Fifor and the British Secretary of Defense, Gavin Williamson.

Britain blamed Russia on Thursday for a cyber-attack last year, publicly pointing the finger at Moscow for spreading a virus which disrupted companies across Europe including UK-based Reckitt Benckiser, according to Reuters. 

Russia denied the accusation, saying it was part of "Russophobic" campaign it said was being waged by some Western countries.
