In a note on Twitter on Tuesday, US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt stressed the importance of boosting Greek-US ties and "continuing to build on our strong bilateral relationship, including on defense, security, energy and investment" following talks with prominent SYRIZA cadres Nikos Pappas and Giorgos Katrougalos.
Inhabited islands, such as Crete, are on the same footing as mainland coastline in the delineation of marine zones, US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt said Monday in response to questions from reporters about the recent maritime border agreement between Libya and Turkey that ignores the presense of the Greek island.
The US Department of State's Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) has welcomed the EastMed gas pipeline deal signed on Thursday between Greece, Cyprus and Israel.
"ENR applauds the continued cooperation between Greece, Cyprus, and Israel in the development of energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean," the agency said in a message on its Twitter account.
