US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt has hailed Greece as a "steadfast and reliable partner" in American efforts to promote stability and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean, while stressing the strengthening of military cooperation between the two NATO allies.

Preparations are in the final stretch for the visit next month of a delegation of representatives from US universities who are coming to Greece for exploratory talks on possible cooperation projects.

Commenting on the contentious agreement on maritime boundaries signed between Turkey and Libya's internationally-recognized government, US Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt said, in an interview published on Saturday, that Greek islands are on the same footing as the mainland when it comes to continental shelf and an exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
