Haftar in Athens for talks with government ahead of Berlin Libya conference

In a resounding response to German Chancellor Angela Merkel's decision to bar Greece from the 19 January Libya peace conference, Libya National Army leader General Khalifa Haftar arrived in Athens for talks with Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis just two days before the conference.

Greece supports EU efforts to deescalate tensions in Libya and supports the efforts of UN Secretary General Special Representative for Libya Ghassan Salame towards that goal, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said Friday, arriving at an emergency meeting of EU counterparts in Brussels.

Dendias heads to Cairo to meet counterparts on Libya crisis

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias is heading to Cairo on Wednesday for a meeting of the Greece-Cyprus-Egypt tripartite partnership with his counterparts of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and of Egypt Samekh Shukri, but this time the meeting will include the Foreign Affairs Ministers of France, Jean-Yves Le Drian and of Italy, Luigi Di Maio.
