BSH Hišni Aparati opens new development centre
Nazarje – The Nazarje-based home appliance maker BSH Hišni Aparati opened a new development centre on Thursday. The cutting-edge facility will employ 140 engineers developing kitchen appliances. The investment is valued at EUR 4.5 million.

Business organisations urge more ambitious debureaucratisation
Ljubljana – Four business chambers or associations associated in an Economic Circle initiative urged the government to be more ambitious in its debureaucratisation drive and lower the planned social security cap, as they presented a number of ideas for a lean state at an online news conference on Wednesday.
Debate hears coal phase-out date should be set with consensus
Ljubljana – A round table debate on Tuesday heard that, while coal phase-out is inevitable, it should be made sure that power supply is not threatened as Slovenia is making the relevant transition. The participants agreed that the year of closure of the sole operational coal mine in Velenje should be set in consensus of all stakeholders.
Hopes for new investor after Adient shutdown
Slovenj Gradec – The government is hoping to find a new investor for a location in Slovenj Gradec that the US company Adient plans to shut down at the end of the year at a loss of 430 jobs. “I’m optimistic, we have several interested parties for the continuation of production,” Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek said on Tuesday.

Cantarutti appointed GZS director general
Ljubljana – Former Economy Ministry State Secretary Aleš Cantarutti will take over as Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) director general on 1 April. He was appointed for four years by the GZS management board as it met for an online session on Thursday.

Sonja Šmuc ending her tenure as GZS director general
Ljubljana – Sonja Šmuc, the director general of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS), will leave her post by mutual agreement effective on 28 February, the GZS announced on Tuesday.
The procedure for the appointment of a new director general has started. In the interim period, the chamber will be headed by executive director Mitja Gorenšček.
GZS celebrating 170th birthday

Eleven innovations receive Golden Awards from GZS
Ljubljana – Eleven innovations received top awards from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) as part of Innovation Day on Monday. The online ceremony was also addressed by President Borut Pahor, who labelled the economy and the creative sector two pillars of social development, with the key to progress lying in their cooperation.
