Poyet tries to mark 20th anniversary of Greece’s European title by leading team back to tournament
Gus Poyet is aiming to build on a tradition as he tries to become the latest foreign coach to take Greece to a European Championship.
It's been 20 years since German coach Otto Rehhagel led an unheralded team to the title at Euro 2004 in one of soccer's biggest surprises, and 12 years since Portuguese manager Fernando Santos helped Greece reach the Euro 2012 quarterfinals.
Prolific Greece trounces Kazakhstan, sets up final with Georgia
Greece has got one final hurdle to clear on its way to Euro 2024, after thrashing Kazakhstan on Thursday with a 5-0 score in Athens.
The Greek national team has advanced to the final of its division in the UEFA Nations League and must beat Georgia away in five days' time to qualify to this summer's finals in Germany.

Positive start for Greece against Gibraltar

Olympiakos parts ways with manager Hasi
Olympiakos has informed manager Besnik Hasi he is no longer the coach of the Greek champion, following the dramatic 3-2 loss at AEK.
The Reds squandered a 2-0 lead conceding three goals in the last half-hour of the derby at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday, and in the early hours of Monday the Olympiakos board decided it should move on with another manager.

AEK gets former Sunderland manager as new boss
Former Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet from Uruguay sealed his return to football with a deal to coach AEK Athens until the end of the season. The boss, sacked in March, has been linked with the vacant role at Aston Villa but ends up with AEK after the Greek Super League moved quick to sign a contract. He replaces Traianos Dellas who resigned last week.
