Turkey slams Dutch government’s recognition of 1915 events
Turkey on Feb. 25 slammed a decision by the Dutch House of Representatives to recognize the 1915 events as "genocide" against Armenians.
Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hami Aksoy said the decision and calling on the government to recognize the events of 1915 as genocide is a null attempt to rewrite history with political motives.
Murat Mercan officially appointed as Turkey’s ambassador to US
Turkey's former ambassador to Tokyo, Hasan Murat Mercan, was officially appointed as Turkey's ambassador to Washington on Feb. 24.
The appointment decisions of some ambassadors regarding the reshuffle at the Foreign Ministry were published in the Official Gazette.
Greek diplomacy ticks off Turkey
The "Philia (Friendship) Forum" that brought together in Athens four Mediterranean states (Cyprus, Egypt, France and Greece) and three Gulf states (Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates) on Thursday apparently touched a raw nerve in Turkey, which reacted with a strongly worded statement by Foreign Ministry spokesman Hami Aksoy.

Turkey hails New START extension by Russia, US
Turkey on Feb. 3 welcomed the extension of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) between the U.S. and Russia for another five years.
"We welcome and support the decision of the United States and the Russian Federation to extend the New START Treaty for five years," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hami Aksoy said in a written statement.
