Kosovo President Demands Prosecutors Probe War Crimes
President Hashim Thaci sent letters to Kosovo prosecutors urging them to take action to resolve a series of crimes against both ethnic Albanians and Serbs during and after the war in 1999.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has described the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) as "Kosovo’s future army."
According to his website, he also spoke about "the involvement of the members of all communities, with an advanced gender composition," to conclude this was "the best indicator of the character of the state and of our society."
Kosovo Announces Village Killings Probe After Protest
"The Kosovo Special Prosecution (SPRK), on its own initiative, on September 16, 2016, started a preliminary investigation into this case," prosecution spokesperson Liridona Kozmaqi told BIRN on Wednesday.
"Now the SPRK is awaiting the results of the preliminary investigation and the filing of criminal charges by police investigators," Kozmaqi added.
Kosovo Students Protest Against Serbian Church
Arlind Manxhuka, a representative of the student organisation Study, Critic, Action, which has been protesting against the Orthodox church, told BIRN that its presence on the campus is unacceptable.
"The space where this building is built is an usurpation of the university campus," Manxhuka said.

Thaci says pope "plans to recognize reality" in Balkans
Pope Francis has received Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Prime Minister Isa Mustafa in separate audiences.
Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore reported this on Tuesday.
"Warrant is valid here, Thaci would be arrested in Belgrade"
If Hashim Thaci were to travel to Belgrade, he would certainly be arrested - because a Belgrade court has issued a warrant for his arrest.
Acting War Crimes Prosecutor Milan Petrovic made this statement for the daily Vecernje Novosti.
EU Visa Liberalisation Recommended for Kosovo
The European Commission on Wednesday recommended to the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament that Kosovo should be transferred to the visa-free list for short stays in the Schengen zone.
It said that Kosovo has fulfilled the requirements of its visa liberalisation roadmap.

Thaci's uncle surrenders to EULEX investigators
Azem Syla has surrendered to investigative organs of the EU mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Tanjug reported on Friday, quoting Serbia's state broadcaster RTS.
Syla is a member of the Kosovo Assembly from the ranks of President Hashim Thaci's party, the PDK, and is also Thaci's uncle.
