As a crisis over Kosovo's import tax hikes continues in Serb-majority northern Kosovo, a former Serbian Minister for Kosovo, Goran Bogdanovic, says that he expects a "status quo" to settle in before the import taxes on Serbian products are scrapped.
"I believe that this decision [to raise taxes on Serbian imports] will be revoked very soon," Boganovic told BIRN.
Bolton took to Twitter after meeting with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.
"The US stands ready to help both parties achieve this historic goal," he added.
Met with President Hashim Thaci of Kosovo today at the White House. We agreed the time is now for Kosovo and Serbia to reach an agreement. The U.S. stands ready to help both parties achieve this historic goal.
Kosovo PM Ramush Haradinaj's adviser Avni Arifi - who also represents Pristina in the dialogue with Belgrade - told Pristina-based website Lajmi on Tuesday that "the Kosovo government will fall sooner than withdrawing the decision" that concerns goods from central Serbia, and from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Pompeo did this during his meeting in Washington on Monday with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.
The US official "encouraged Kosovo to seize this unique window of opportunity to reach a historic comprehensive normalization deal with Serbia under the EU-facilitated Dialogue process," a press release from the US State Department said.
Ramush Haradinaj said on Thursday that this would be done" when Belgrade ceases the aggression of Serbia," Pristina-based daily Gazeta Express is reporting, cited by Tanjug.
Haradinaj also said that such a decision "was not unexpected, and that he repeatedly warned the previously imposed tax could only be increased."
