Dozens of people, including members of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, were injured after their pagers exploded, according to security officials. A Hezbollah representative told the Associated Press that the incident is believed to have been caused by Israel. However, the Israeli military declined to comment on the situation.

Israel strikes Lebanon saying it has thwarted a large-scale Hezbollah attack, while the Lebanese group announces its own cross-border raids to avenge a top commander's killing.

The Israeli military said its fighter jets had destroyed "thousands" of Hezbollah rocket launchers "aimed toward northern Israel and some were aimed toward central Israel", far from the border.

The Israeli government yesterday agreed to resume talks next Thursday, August 15, aimed at declaring a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and releasing hostages remaining in the hands of Hamas, following intervention by the mediating countries, the US, Egypt and Qatar, which warned the belligerents that “there is no time to waste nor excuse” for further delays.

Yesterday, Israel warned that it would eliminate the new leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, as the war in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian Islamist movement, now in its eleventh month, threatens to spread across the Middle East.

While Hamas and Hezbollah regroup and issue threats of a sweeping counterattack, Israel continues to strike military targets in Lebanon.

Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has assumed the leadership of the Palestinian group. This announcement by Hamas comes a week after their previous leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in Tehran, as reported by Reuters.

Hezbollah launched new attacks against Israel on Tuesday afternoon, firing more than 30 rockets towards the northern regions of the country, according to the IDF.

The initial “storm” of approximately 20 rockets targeted the northern Golan Heights, with the Israeli army noting that “all rockets fell in open areas.”

Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev said that Israel might seek military assistance from the Israeli Air Force and naval support from Athens and Larnaca if the country is attacked.

The announcement follows a warning from Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah to Cyprus against supporting Israel in any conflict with Lebanon.

Hezbollah announced early Sunday morning that it launched about 50 rockets from southern Lebanon at Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza and in retaliation for recent Israeli attacks in the southern part of the country.

According to initial reports, the rockets were intercepted in the sky by Israel’s air defense system, the Iron Dome.

In response to the escalating tension in the Middle East following the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, the United States is undertaking the largest deployment of warships in the region since October 7. This move comes amidst growing concerns of Iranian retaliation against Israel, heightening regional instability.
