Turkey launches comparative Turkovac-CoronoVac vaccine trials

Turkey has started to administer its homegrown COVID-19 vaccine candidate to volunteers at a major hospital in the capital Ankara as part of the jab's Phase 3 clinical trials to compare its efficacy to that of the Chinese-developed CoronaVac shot, the country's top health official announced on July 16. 

Three wounded in mortar shell attack in Turkey's south

Three locals were wounded after a mortar shell attack by outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the southern province of Osmaniye in the late hours of Oct. 19, Doğan News Agency has reported.

PKK militants fired three mortar shells from three different points at two neighborhoods on the foothills of the Amanos Mountains in Osmaniye.
