Streptococcus cases rise in Greece
Greece's National Public Health Organization (EODY) is investigating cases of invasive group A streptococcus (iGAS) after an increase in infections. A team was sent to the General Hospital of Ilia in the Peloponnese following two deaths.

Ilia: Two dead from streptococcus – One more person hospitalized
The region of Ilia has been placed under surveillance for several days by the National Public Health Organization (EODY), following the recording of three cases of streptococcus, two of which resulted in the death of the patient.

August 15 festivities to go lamb-free as cattle plague outbreaks persist
Minister of Rural Development Kostas Tsiaras announced that traditional August 15 festivities will take place without lamb, hinting that slaughterhouses across the country are expected to remain closed next week.
"We will be without lamb on August 15," Tsiaras stated in an interview with Skai TV.

Sheep & Goat Plague: The domino effect the cases is frightening – New measures planned
In the first 15 days, panic sheep and goat disease hit Thessaly in the laws of Trikala and Larissa. This first experience of dealing with the disease was the “bushel” that the authorities followed when now the plague started to “hit” other areas which in essence emerged from the tracing of Thessaly.
Traffic violations on the rise
Police data indicate a rise in dangerous traffic violations in Western Greece during the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
In the three regional units of Western Greece - Achaia, Ilia and Aetolia-Acarnania - a total of 21,681 dangerous violations were recorded, an increase from 21,171 in the previous year.
