Greek caretaker PM congratulates Erdogan on election victory

Greece's caretaker prime pinister, Ioannis Sarmas, sent a letter to Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday, extending his congratulations on his re-election as the president of Turkey and expressing wishes for peace and prosperity for the Turkish people.

Erdogan extended his rule into a third decade by defeating Kemal Kilicdaroglu in the country's runoff election Sunday.

Operational slip-up

We did not see what the voluminous blue folder that New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis handed over to the caretaker prime minister, Ioannis Sarmas, contained. It seemed too heavy to only include next month's milestones. We do know that the president, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, will represent Greece at the summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in Moldova next Thursday.

Cabinet holds first meeting

Caretaker Prime Minister Ioannis Sarmas will chair the first full-length meeting of the caretaker cabinet shortly after noon on Saturday at the Maximos Mansion.

Sarmas had a brief meeting with the ministers after they were sworn in on Friday. The same day, the cabinet members received their portfolios at handovers in ministries.
