On December 17, 2023, the Republic of Serbia will hold extraordinary parliamentary elections, elections for the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, and local elections for the capital city of Belgrade, along with an additional 65 local self-governments.

Analyst says election result in Serbia was expected

Brdo pri Kranju – Parliamentary Speaker Igor Zorčič hosted a meeting of parliamentary speakers from the Western Balkans on Monday, saying that the EU must give the region a clear signal on when it could expect EU accession. Turkish foreign minister meets Balkan officials

Turkey's foreign minister on Sept. 13 separately met with the recently appointed high representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the Serbian president of the National Assembly.

In a Twitter post, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said: "Pleased to host Christian Schmidt, recently appointed High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina."

Zorčič strengthening bilateral relations in Serbia

Belgrade – Parliamentary Speaker Igor Zorčič will start a two-day official visit to Serbia on Thursday to meet his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dačić. Zorčič will also be received by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, and will meet representatives of Slovenian companies in the country.

Speaker advocates accelerating enlargement process in Brussels

Brussels – National Assembly Speaker Igor Zorčič said Slovenia would seek to accelerate the enlargement process during its EU presidency as he took part in the summit between the European Parliament and parliamentary speakers from the Western Balkans in Brussels on Monday, which noted the role of parliaments in the enlargement process.
