Bulgarian Defence Expert to Lead Caretaker Cabinet Until July Polls

The caretaker cabinet was appointed after the failure by several political parties - outgoing ruling party GERB, There's Such a Nation and the Bulgarian Socialist Party - to muster a coalition after the inconclusive results of elections on April 4.

The US embassy in Zagreb told BIRN on Wednesday that, although the US Government does not generally comment on allies' arms procurements, Washington strongly supports Croatia's modernization of its defence system, including the purchase of F-16 jets from Israel.

Mattis hails Greece's role in resolving FYROM name dispute
US Defense Secretary James Mattis stressed the importance of the Prespa Agreement signed between Athens and Skopje to resolve the 27-year-old name dispute and praised Greece's efforts to stop Russian interference in the process during a meeting with Greek counterpart Panos Kammenos at the Pentagon on Tuesday.
