Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias is heading to Paris on Monday, where he will meet with his French counterpart Jean-Yves le Drian.

Eight European Union member states have decided to set up a naval surveillance mission in the Strait of Hormuz, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced on Jan. 20 after a meeting of the bloc's foreign ministers.

The agreement on maritime boundaries in the Mediterranean Sea signed between Turkey and the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) infringes the interests and the sovereign rights of European Union member states, particularly of Greece and Cyprus, France said on Thursday, adding that the memorandum violates the UN Law of the Sea Convention.

The foreign ministers of Greece, Cyprus and Egypt, Nikos Dendias, Nikos Christodoulides and Sameh Shoukry, along with their French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian, on Wednesday jointly denounced two memorandums of understanding signed between Turkey and the Tripoli-based government in Libya as illegal and invalid.

Recent developments in Libya, as well as security and stability issues in the Eastern Mediterranean were at the center of a five-way meeting in Cairo on Wednesday between the foreign ministers of Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, France and Italy, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.

Against the backdrop of unfolding events in Libya, the foreign ministers of Greece, Cyprus and Egypt, Nikos Dendias, Nikos Christodoulides and Sameh Shoukry respectively, will on Wednesday hold a trilateral summit in Cairo with the participation of their French and Italian counterparts Jean-Yves Le Drian and Luigi Di Maio. 

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias is heading to Cairo on Wednesday for a meeting of the Greece-Cyprus-Egypt tripartite partnership with his counterparts of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and of Egypt Samekh Shukri, but this time the meeting will include the Foreign Affairs Ministers of France, Jean-Yves Le Drian and of Italy, Luigi Di Maio.

The Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers spoke over the phone on Jan. 4, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Turkey's Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif discussed the killing of senior Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

Romania's Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu held a bilateral meeting with the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian at the NATO ministerial meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.
