Bulgarians Celebrate Christmas Eve

On December 24 we celebrate one of the greatest Christian holidays - Christmas Eve.

According to the biblical tradition, on Christmas Eve,  Virgin Mary goes into labor and is the beginning of Christ's birth.

The family gathers in anticipation of the birth of the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

Turkish president wishes Merry Christmas to Christians

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wished a Merry Christmas on Dec. 23 to all those celebrating the holiday in Turkey and across the world.

In a Christmas message, Erdoğan highlighted the role of Turkish tradition as well as the "utmost care" in the country to ensure that nobody was discriminated against based on "race, language, religion or denomination".

Archeologists Discovered Necropolis at Perpericon

The necropolis was situated close to the Great basilika found during excavations 4 years ago, BNT reported.

Some unique ancient coins were disclosed buried within the newly discovered graves. One of the graves contained a large jar which according to the Dr. Ovcharov was not so typical of that historical period.

Five-way electoral debate on 1 July, no one-on-one between Tsipras, Mitsotakis

An inter-party committee that convenes at the Interior Ministry has decided that the sole parliamentary elections debate will be held on 1 July between PM and SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Movement for Change leader Fofi Gennimata, KKE Greek Communist Party leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas, and Centrists' Union leader Vasilis Leventis.

Today is Spasovden!

Тhe Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors today the Ascension of the Lord, also called Spasovden. It is always celebrated on Thursday, the 40th day after the Resurrection of Christ - Easter.

According to the New Testament, 40 days after his resurrection, Jesus Christ remained on earth to preach his study and talk to the apostles.
