After Covid blues, French saxophone maker hits the right note

After the financial blues of the COVID-19 pandemic, the French saxophone maker favored by American jazz greats celebrates its 100th birthday looking to expand further in Asia and the United States.

Jimmy Cobb, ‘Kind of Blue’ drummer for Miles Davis, dies

Jimmy Cobb, a percussionist and the last surviving member of Miles Davis' 1959 "Kind of Blue" groundbreaking jazz album which transformed the genre and sparked several careers, died on May 24.

His wife, Eleana Tee Cobb, announced on Facebook that her husband died at his New York City home from lung cancer. He was 91.

Takis Paterelis Quartet | Athens | September 13

Respected jazz musicians Takis Paterelis (tenor sax), Costis Christodoulou (piano), Periklis Trivolis (double bass) and Dimitris Klonis (drums) present pieces from John Coltrane's 1964 album "A Love Supreme," which made new inroads for the genre. The quartet will perform in the gardens of the Athens Concert Hall on Thursday, September 13, starting at 8.30 p.m.

Tenor saxophonist Takis Paterelis and his quartet pay tribute to John Coltrane in a concert focused on the American musician and composer's landmark album from 1964, "A Love Supreme," a four-part suite that expanded the horizons of jazz. The concert will take place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), starting at 9 p.m., and admission is free of charge.
