Jozsef Szajer, one of the so-called "dorm guys" - the closest confidants of Prime Minister Viktor Orban and the original founders of his Fidesz party - was forced to resign from the European Parliament and quit Fidesz after being busted in Brussels in what seems to have been a gay orgy involving 25 men and drugs.

Hungary on Monday nominated Oliver Varhelyi, its ambassador to the EU, as its new candidate for a European Commissioner's post, after European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen accepted a decision by the European Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs to block Budapest's previous proposal, Laszlo Trocsanyi.

Hungarian officials reacted with shock on Thursday after Laszlo Trocsanyi, the Hungarian candidate for the Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy post in the European Commission, was deemed unfit to serve as a Commissioner by the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, JURI.

The Vice President of the European Commission Kristalina Georgieva will be on unpaid leave for one month and her functions will be taken over by Commissioner Günther Oettinger in October.

This is the decision of the President of the Commission Jean-Claude Juncker after the Bulgarian government nominated Georgieva for UN Secretary General.
