Ex-king’s funeral service to take place in Athens at noon on Monday

The funeral service for Greece's former King Constantine will be held at 12 noon on Monday at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens while his body will lie in the adjacent chapel of Agios Eleftherios from 6. a.m. to 10 a.m and will be open to members of the public to pay their respects.

The body of the former King will then be transferred to the royal tombs in Tatoi.

The 20th anniversary of the return to Elisabeta Palace of King Mihai (Michael) of Romania and Queen Anne is marked in a documentary published on Facebook on Monday by the Royal House. "On May 18, 2001, King Mihai and Queen Anne returned home to Elisabeta Palace, having become by Parliament vote the King's residence during his lifetime.

At least four carriages discovered in ex-royal estate

At least four carriages were discovered by Culture Ministry conservators working at the former royal estate of Tatoi in northern Athens, according to the Friends of Tatoi Society, a citizens' group that supports the salvation of the estate.

One of the carriages is the closed one used during the wedding of Queen Sophia of Spain and King Juan Carlos in Athens in 1962.

Europe's Royals to Gather for Romanian Ex-King's Funeral

Members of several European royal houses, as well as royals from as far away as Bahrain and Japan, are set to gather in Bucharest at the end of the week to attend the funeral of Romania's last monarch, King Michael I, who died last week aged 96.

The king died at his modest residence in the village of Aubonne , in Switzerland, after over a year of battling cancer.
