Vast majority of Greeks support vaccination, but reservations linger

A whopping 90 percent of Greeks believe in the effectiveness of vaccines in preventing infectious diseases according to a survey released today by Eurobarometer. The EU average is 86 percent.

The study was conducted at a time in which citizens' trust in vaccines has declined due to disinformation.

The EU Provides EUR 275 Million for the Construction of a Railway Line from Istanbul to the Bulgarian Border

The European Union will help finance the construction of a railway line linking Istanbul with the Bulgarian border with the sum of 275 million euros. This was announced by European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen at a joint press conference in Istanbul with Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeebecki, the Associated Press reported.

EU's Katainen to attend parliamentary committee meeting on Jan. 29

European Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen will visit Athens on January 29 to participate in a joint meeting of the Greek Parliament's committees on european affairs, production and trade and economics.

Katainen, who is Commissioner for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, will speak at a session titled "The future of Europe: Challenges and opportunities."

Bulgaria Has Active Role in Juncker Plan

Bulgaria ranks 7th in the EU when scale of investments through the Juncker Plan is concerned, according to the Bulgarian National Radio. 

The country has been doing a good job. There is no room for worry, as the projects financed so far would be further supported by Brussels.

Conservative New Democracy party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis was in Helsinki on Wednesday for the congress of the European People's Party (EEP) which will on Thursday elect its candidate to lead the European Commission.
