Serbian, Republika Srpska officials lay wreaths at Karadjordje's sarcophagus
OPLENAC - Serbian Deputy PM and Defence Minister Milos Vucevic, Republika Srpska PM Radovan Viskovic and Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment and Veteran and Social Affairs Nikola Selakovic laid wreaths at Karadjordje's sarcophagus in the Church of St George at Oplenac, central Serbia, on Thursday on occasion of Serbia's Statehood Day.

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Wednesday Statehood Day events celebrated the day when, 188 years ago, Serbia had adopted one of the most liberal constitutions in Europe at the time.
Battle of Misar in First Serbian Uprising
BELGRADE - The Battle of Misar was one of the most important victories of the Serbian insurgents over Ottoman troops.
The battle - or its crucial part - took place on August 13, 1806 according to the Gregorian calendar.
In an attempt to crush an uprising led by Kardjordje Petrovic, the Ottoman Porte sent troops from Bosnia under the command of Suleiman Pasha Skopljak.

Sretenje - Serbian Statehood Day
BELGRADE - Serbia on February 15 celebrates its Statehood Day, whose foundations were laid 208 years ago when Serbian uprisers, under the leadership of Karadjordje, started the fight for the final liberation from the Ottoman Empire.

Days of Serbian Culture in Montenegro
PODGORICA - Days of Serbian Culture will be held in Montenegro February 10-15 to mark Serbia's Statehood Day.
The event will be held in Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Tivat and Kotor, the Serbian Embassy in Podgorica told Tanjug.
The programme includes a number of exhibitions, plays, book nights and lectures on significant works and figures from the Serbian culture.
