Ski jumper Zajc 6th on large hill at Beijing Olympics
Beijing – Slovenian ski jumper Timi Zajc finished 6th in the men’s individual event on the large hill at the Winter Olympics in Beijing on Saturday, as Norway’s Marius Lindvik won the gold medal. Three other Slovenians finished in the top 12 jumpers, setting up the stage for Monday’s team event in which Slovenia will be going for a medal.
Prevc makes podium to follow up on Križnar’s win
Willingen – Cene Prevc placed third in the men’s Ski-Jumping World Cup event in Willingen, Germany, on Sunday for hist first ever individual podium finish to round off a successful dress rehearsal for Slovenia ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Ski jumper Lanišek with two second place finishes in World Cup
Titisee-Neustadt – Slovenia’s Anže Lanišek scored two second place finishes in the men’s Ski Jumping World Cup event in Germany’s Titisee-Neustadt on Saturday and Sunday, with German Karl Geiger outclassing him both times. This was the third podium finish for the 25-year-old in a row in the current season and the 11th career podium finish.
Ski jumper Anže Lanišek wins World Cup event in Ruka
Ruka – After fishing second at the men’s Ski Jumping World Cup event in Ruka on Saturday, Slovenian ski jumper Anže Lanišek won on Sunday the second such event at Finland’s ski resort this season in what is his first World Cup individual event victory.
Germany win team event in Planica, Geiger rounds off victory
Planica – Germany won the final team event of the Ski Jumping World Cup on the giant hill in Planica on Sunday ahead of Japan and Austria. Karl Geiger rounded off the victory by winning the individual event.
Lanišek wins bronze at Nordic World Ski Championships
Oberstdorf – Slovenia’s ski jumper Anže Lanišek won the bronze medal on the normal hill at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf on Saturday. Gold went to Polish Piotr Zyila, while German Karl Geiger was second.
Touching down at 102.5 metres in the first round, Lanišek was in place two before the second round, lagging three points behind Zyla in first place.
Norway win team event at Planica, Slovenia fourth
Planica – Norway won the team event at the Ski Flying World Championships at Slovenia’s Planica on Sunday, overtaking Germany in the last round as Halvor Egner Granerud performed better than Karl Geiger, who beat the Norwegian yesterday in the individual event. Slovenia bounced back from the turmoil in their ranks by finishing fourth.

Poland win team event in Planica, Slovenia third
With fine long jumps Jakub Wolny, Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki and Piotr Žyla secured an unassailable lead already in the first series.
They scored a total of 1627.9 points, 8.1 points more than Germany and 24.8 points more than Slovenia's Anže Semenič, Peter Prevc, Domen Prevc and Timi Zajc in third.
